What is best, Cable OR Satellite TV?

Believe it or not, one of the most important decisions of a household is whether to go with cable or satellite television. Before you make a final decision, you have to compare the two types of services, establish which features are most appealing to you, and most importantly consider what is the best option for your home and your family.

Even though there are many similarities between cable and satellite TV, both have benefits and disadvantages.

Basic Differences

Although every TV provider in the country may offer different options, usually satellite TV offers a broader range of packages (such as entertainment, sports, foreign language) and a wider assortment of High Definition channels. Cable TV is more focused and specialized in providing TV from local stations.

In terms of equipment, both systems need receiver boxes connected to each TV. Additionally, Satellite Television needs a satellite dish installed outside the home. Both systems have also the possibility of having a DVR box installed, typically for an additional fee.

If you live in a remote area, and cable providers are not available, your best and probably your only choice would be satellite television.
